Attendance:
As you know, regular school attendance is vital in order for students to make satisfactory progress. Much of our learning is accomplished through hands-on and interactive strategies which, unfortunately, are difficult to make up following an absence. We also get started with our day as soon as the students enter the classroom at 8:25am. If your child is tardy they will not hear the directions or the first part of the lesson which is the most important. Please try to have your child to school on time each day.
Planners
School planners are very important for daily communication and should be brought to school every day. Feel free to write notes to me in your child's planner. I look at them daily. Important announcements and activities will also be written in your child's planner. I also will communicate behavior problems that your child may have had in their planner. Any time I write notes about behavior please sign next to the note to let me know that you have read it.
Behavior
Classroom behavior will be monitored using a clip system. All students will start the day with their clip on green (Ready to Learn.
If you move to the yellow level on our clip chart, you will miss five minutes of recess to think about your choices. Moving to purple will cause your child to miss 10 minutes of recess. If they move to pink they miss 15 minutes of recess. Moving to red will require a note or call to the Parent and you will miss your whole recess.
Lunch- 11:19-11:49am ( please make sure you have filled out a volunteer form if you wish to eat with your child)
All children can receive a free lunch. Parents are welcome to come eat lunch with their child any day of the week. Please sign in at the front office. Please avoid sending in drinks that have been opened previously, sometimes they leak/spill in the classroom and can attract bugs. Also, we discourage sharing lunches with each other because of any allergies that a child might have.
Tuesday Folders
Every Tuesday you child's Tuesday Folder will be sent home with weekly papers inside. This finished work should be reviewed with your child. Any paper that receives a D or below will be stamped for a parent signature. I strongly encourage you to review these papers with your child. Every Wednesday your child needs to return the signed papers and Tuesday folders back to class. One side of the folder is for papers to be returned to school, the other side is for papers to keep at home. Tuesday Folders are a wonderful way to communicate and is critical to a successful year. Also included in this folder are school and class notes. Please look carefully through these papers every Tuesday.
Birthday Celebrations
We love to celebrate birthdays in our classroom! If you would like for your child to celebrate his or her birthday at school, you may send in a small birthday treat that day for him or her to share. Please send it with your child that morning, and we will make time after lunch to share birthday treats. Try to write me a note in advance if you are sending something in so that any children with allergies can plan to bring a treat of their own that day. If you are going to send party invitations, send them to me and I can place them in the Tuesday folder to make sure the parents see them.
Transportation
For the safety of your child, he/she must go home everyday in the usual way UNLESS I have a NOTE from you. If a change is to occur, please send me a
note, or for an unexpected change, notify the office, and I will receive the message. The children are not allowed to go home with a friend if it means
riding a bus other than their own. If your child is to walk home or ride a bicycle, please send me a note giving your permission.
Medication
If your child must take medication of any kind (prescriptions, aspirin, cough syrup, etc…) please send it to school with a note stating the time it is to
be taken. I will see that our school nurse gets it and administers it to your child at the proper time. Please remember that the medication cannot be
administered unless the nurse has written permission from the parent/guardian and a doctor's note.
